Deluxe reverb effects loop
« on: January 28, 2020, 08:41:52 pm »
I'm building a one channel deluxe reverb and was wondering if it will work inserted where the PI 220k insert point is normally?
I can add a master volume if necessary.
Just a simple passive loop

That'll work.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Passive loop? You at least need a recovery stage to bring the signal back up again.

An alternative is to put the loop in parallell with (or replace) the reverb circuit.

As d95err noted, the signal level will be diminished when an effects device is inserted at that point and you won't be able to get the full wattage out of your amp, but lots of people do that.  If you're not worried about the possibility that you might not have enough wattage to get the police over, then go for it.

Here are a couple of ideas for combining the reverb circuit with an effects loop.  I haven't tried either one, but they calc out pretty good on paper.  I'm not real sure there is any particular advantage over just putting the effects in front of an amp like this.  I guess it could drive a line-level device with the loop.
