Any of you guys ever try to mount snap in caps on a chassis with a cap clamp? or make your own for the smaller diameter?

Used them often.  Never made one.

i like the yellow/gold colored zinc plated models.  :icon_biggrin:  can't find them anymore for reasonable $$. specifically, the older US made mallory and CDE parts. most common are the 1-3/8" and 1" parts.

there are 1-1/2" one-piece clamps for the JJ 40-20-20-20 can, but they are scarce and typically have 3 mount points, so you're pretty much stuck using the two-piece JJ chinese made job.

to mount snap in caps

nope, used them for the cans requiring them though.  I would think you'd have to snip off the ears to get a good fit, but IIRC the ears are the minus/ground for the other taps  :dontknow:

Something like this. Using a mounting ring with one of these.

that works, was thinking of the way back versions where you soldered the "- ears" to the chassis.

Snap-Caps come in EVERY possible diameter. Nobody makes all those clamps.

They supposed to go on a PCB. You can also drill perf or solid board, then solder the legs close to the board. If you must have caps outside the chassis, you can screw that board to the chassis. But snap-caps are so much smaller than caps of 1959 that you can often tuck the whole bunch inside the chassis.
