To quote Charlie Brown: "Oh good grief"... Taj has a huge amount of talent and musical understanding. This kid will definitely go beyond his 15 minutes of fame. Surely and hopefully a lifetime like Carlos. Unfortunately fame is not always about talent, but more about 'who you know and when you know them'. Being friends/family with a producer, or having an excellent manager is critical in that path. Taj deserves to go beyond just being viral.
This brings up another thought too. Kids have a lot more learning resources than we did back in the 60's and 70's. Back then we had an instructor, your Aunt's piano metronome, your friends to share and practice with, and a whole truck load of LP's scratched up from re-listening to the same parts over and over again (even though later on cassette tapes helped from that perspective). Huzzah for 2020 and the digital age. Unlimited free instructional videos and resources on youtube, digital recording with Sonar (anyone remembers the hassle of those multi-track reel2reel or cassette tape recorders?), random access mp3 players that you can loop to rehearse a specific verse, and on and on and on.
Another young prodigy that I really admire and enjoy listening to is Tal Wilkenfeld. Check her out with Jeff Beck:
Take care all.
