Tube Amper in Nevada
« on: February 01, 2020, 01:05:25 pm »
Hello all in tube amp world.

My name is Bob, I am 66 years old, married with 3 grown sons; one who makes a living as a musician.  I have been a small animal veterinarian since 1984 and am currently practicing in a multi-doctor facility in Reno, NV.

I started playing guitar in 1995.  Through parks and recreation in Roseville, CA, a build your own guitar class was offered at a local middle school wood shop; taught by a luthier and the wood shop teacher.  The first guitar I made was a red strat; I gave it to my son and he performs with it on occasion.  Eventually I made 6 guitars.

In 1997 the luthier offered a build your own tube amp course.  The participants selected the type of amp they wanted to build and parts were purchased.  The luthier flaked and folks were left on their own to put these amps together.  Having had some electronic foundation from junior high school and college, I studied tube amp books (mostly Dan Torres) and put together an amp.  It has two preamps: one fender and one marshall with output from a Vox AC-30.   Later I built another amp similar to a Bronco.

Life has been hectic but I am ready to start another amp build and am really glad to have discovered the resources at Hoffman amps.

Bob,

Seeing your burro avatar I was thinking you were a large animal vet!  As a multiple horse owner I have contributed greatly to a number of veterinarian retirement funds over the years...  :icon_biggrin:   Welcome aboard!  You will find lots of great folks here that will help you select and build your next obsession!
