Tweed BluezMeister choke
« on: February 05, 2020, 10:08:40 am »

I am collecting the parts for the Tweed BluezMeister, the schematic calls for a 3H choke.
I want to build the amp with 6V6 tubes as that seems like enough power/volume for me. I have found a schematic with this configuration. The variations on the original like the 6V6 schematic do not show the power section. I know that 6V6's take less power than 6L6's so the power transformer can be smaller and the output transformer should match 6V6, both of these I can figure out.
The original power section with the 6L6 calls for a 3 Henry choke. Can I replace this with a resistor if so what resistor would I use. If not would a different choke be required.
                                                            Cheers Ron

I did not build my TBM with a choke.  I used a 3w/1.5k resistor and ran 6L6's in the amp most of the time.  Sometimes I used 6V6's.

So, I'd either use a 3w or 5w   1k or 1.5k.

With respect, Tubenit
