MultiSim 14 evaluation
« on: February 09, 2020, 07:48:02 am »
Found this program called MultiSim 14.2 https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/downloads/software-products/download.multisim.html#312060 and downloaded a copy to tinker with for 30 days. Has some Vacuum tubes to simulate with so I though I would give it a try. Would like some comments on the values seen inside the volt meter boxes. Just a test to see if things look real world. Capacitors are there for my sake, does not seem to matter what value as my input is A/C voltage at .1 volt at 1000HZ. screen shot is V1B. This voltage reading is taken before and after V1b tube. So tell me what you think is this program worth the space and time?
Note to self: Do not Tic-off the Dentist before needed work, And do not Tic-off the Rectial surgen before needed surgery. Makes for Two V-bad weeks.

#s look reasonable, me, I prefer to design based off tried stuff, stitch together, break out scope, tweak to taste.  If SW floats 'ur boat  :icon_biggrin:

MultiSim was hot stuff a few years back. I can't remember all the sims. Will it expire? Several other sims are free forever and some are used massively in the hobbyist community.

Show the whole plan. Including supply voltage. Get in the habit of neat drawings (don't let the cursor push you around). Yes, meter-numbers are good, but what are they saying? Waveform display is free. And in this case I think you need to look at the waveform. My ghost-sim with an assumed supply voltage shows gross clipping.

I know you are just playing but there are some rules of thumb to use *before* you go to the sim. Input voltage should not be higher than bias (roughly 0.6*Vp/Mu). Load impedance should be significantly larger than plate resistor (not 46k loading 100k).

Will it expire? "Yes, not going to purchase, if it was free I might learn how to use all the features".  One thing for sure, playing around with this Sim program. Showed how much I still have to learn. Thank you, Shooter and PRR for your time and answers. Yes PRR, the B+ voltage was 250v, I kind of deleted that circuit right after I read Shooters reply.

now I feel bad  :sad2:

I have played with simulators, drafting, math, n I got more micro processors than a normal person should have  :icon_biggrin:

LTspice, Micro-Cap, TINA–TI, all freeware.

Micro-Cap *may* have inbuilt tubes??

LTSpice is hot-stuff today, a good tutorial:
Installing and using LTspice...
Also Kuehnel's latest book Guitar Amplifier Electronics: Circuit Simulation

I went and downloaded the LTspice, as PRR suggested. And am I the learning stage. Not as easy as the MultiSim but I'll get it in a bit, I hope. I have looked at the Book, Installing and using LTspice buy Kuehnel and, already have his book, Basic Theory. So here I go on another Sim program. That, I hope will teach me the things I need to know, by seeing. I can't afford to SIM in real world parts. Do not feel bad Shooter, you got me off that milk crate. There  are reasons behind / for everything that happens.
