2204 using Hammond 290GX PT
« on: February 21, 2020, 12:05:36 pm »
Hello El34world,

On the secondary side of the PT there are two black wire (well one is glossy black, one is matt black). my question is, how can i figure out the black wire that has 3.15v? the other black wire will connect to ground. please help. spec sheet is attached.

I believe the 3.15V one will be a thicker gauge. Are there differences in wire thickness?

Been a while since I built mine, I'd have to open it up to see

Connect one probe of your ohmmeter to the orange wire. Now touch the other meter probe to a black wire. If you have a very low resistance (close to zero ohms) then you got the right wire. Twist it together with the orange. If no, grab another black wire.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Do what I suggested and be sure.

the thicker black wire shows lower resistance. i used that one with orange for heater wire.
