Wrapping up winter partscaster build
« on: March 18, 2020, 04:46:59 pm »
Just finishing up a winter project partscaster.

I started acquiring the parts in the late summer/fall of last year.

The neck is Squier, really good quality.  I sanded off any labels.  I carved in the locking nut shelf with files, dremel, chisel.

The body is from guitarfetish.com,  it's the XGP floyd route body  , poplar, came unfinished.

The pickguard is blue shell from warmoth.

The trem is Gotoh. The tuners are Gotoh.

The 2 humbuckers are G+L "blues boy " I removed the nickel covers and put on white plastic. The neck is about 8.5K , bridge 14K.

The single coil is a fender custom shop.

There's a mini toggle and 5 way switch, single volume, single tone. In one position of the mini toggle, it does 5 way strat single coils sounds using the outer coils of humbuckers.  In the other mini toggle position,  1 and 5 are full humbucker, 2,3, and 4 are the normal 2,3,4 of a strat.

I used rustoleum rattle cans. Sandable primer base coat. "Modern mint" color coat. And "watco" (made by rustoleum) gloss lacquer clear coat.

The body doesn't have quite the coating of lacquer that I was shooting for,  but I'm done messing with it for a while.  Lol. Perhaps I'll disassemble and gloss it up in the future.

Wow!  The gold looks really striking against the white and blue!  Very nice!
