Question for Sluckey on the Warbler
« on: April 30, 2020, 02:21:53 pm »
Steve, Hope you are well and in good health!!!   I have a request to build the Warbler (revision #2) and in reviewing the schematic and layout, the schematic calls for three (3) 0.47uf coupling caps, but on the layout in those locations there are 0.1uf coupling caps? Which are the correct value or does it matter?
Thank you very much for your time and help. Stan

0.47µF is the correct value. The 0.1µFs shown on the layout is an error. Sorry 'bout that.

The .47s on the AO-41 or AO-47 are probably good. I used those big ole silver pio caps just because I had then laying around for years. If I had to buy some I'd get the Xicons like Doug sells. They are much smaller.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Steve, its  me again. Customer requests a true bypass toggle switch on the front panel.  Im thinking put it between the tone and mix controls. What do you think?  Also on the Hammond AO-47 the customer bought, the Saturable Reactor SR101,SR102, SR103 primaries had tab 7 going to ground and tab 1 going to the circuit board. Since the primaries are wired in series Im thinking  it does not matter which goes where. Am I correct?  Thank you for your time and patience.

This is probably the best place to install a true bypass switch.

Steve, just want to let you know the Warbler is working fine. Thank you for your fine work and sharing the schematic and layout. I do have a question on the 5751  cathode voltage of V1 pin 3. The schematic shows 17v. My reading is 3.67v. Is that a type O on the schematic?  The other 5751 cathodes are about 20% lower than on the schematic. Probably cause of the saturable reactor resistances are a tad higher than yours were?

I suspect that's an error. I'll check ASAP but may be a while. Lot of other stuff going on right now.
