Hey everybody, I registered for the board ten years ago and I've finally gotten around to introducing myself...I've done a lot of listening but no talking till now.
My name's Dave and I'm a retired Electrical Engineer. I lost my best friend and wife to cancer a couple of years ago. I worked as a reliability engineer for Siemens for the bulk of my career and specialized in anti lock braking control modules, air bag control and deployment modules, infotainment systems and instrument panels.
My job was to do component level failure analysis on a bad module and ensure that the customer received double certified parts.I've been repairing and building tube amps since the '70s as well.
I play guitar in two bands, Praise Band at church and lead guitar in a Big Band. The Big Band is a full jazz band with 20 members, sax, trombone, trumpet, keys, bass, guitar, drums, vocals. We do everything from Sinatra to Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire stuff. I've got a nice collection of very nice amps (Dr.Z, vintage Fender, home built) and I have been blessed with great guitars to play.
I love all things music. I've been into hi-fi equipment since I was a kid and I used to call myself an audiophile. No more! The snake oil that is dealt in that industry is crazy. That said, I've got a system that sounds like a live band is in the room. All personally rebuilt 1970 vintage gear with the exception of the DVD/CD player.
I've really enjoyed the forum from a distance and decided it was time to jump in and say hello, so Hi!!!
