Summer Sort of Time
« on: May 23, 2020, 09:32:09 am »
In keeping with my efforts to actually learn to play a few jazz chords,  I did this song from my childhood around 14-15 yrs old.  It was either the 1st or 2nd song I learned along with House of the Rising Sun & Walk Don't Run.   :icon_biggrin:

I attached the chord chart I came up with IF anyone is interested?  I had found something on line that I didn't understand, couldn't figure out and couldn't play ……….. so that prompted the efforts to try to arrange something I could play that I liked.

I apologize for the poor vocals.  Part of my effort was to find jazz chords I knew and could half way play to fit the vocals I was hearing in my head, so I put them together to see if they "fit" OK.

Thanks to Silvergun for the website that names the chords I'm playing as often I have no idea the name of the chord.

No pedals.   My 335 semi-hollow body (made from a kit) straight into the HoSo56 "the Minimalist" amp.

I had ALOT of fun doing this & I know it's rather mediocre but I'm pleased with the jazz rhythm which was my primary goal.

Jeff, it's inspiring to see you pushing yourself to your goals.

I have heard a big improvement in your chord work over the past years and I'm happy for you that you get enjoyment from this.

Jeff,

I blundered into this channel on youtube.  It's an eye-opener for me, basically a self-taught blues / rock player.  It's good for learning jazz chord theory: very clear on how the chords are derived; how they're used; and how they tend to resolve to the next chord in the progression.

Here's 1 example in the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izBSQYV4J3g&t=475s
