Variations on Varitone - Suggestions on inductors and cap values?

I'm toying with popping a two-knob varitone circuit into an SG of mine.  The cap-selector 6-way type cap select switch, but combined with a standard pot to use like a tone in controlling the amount of flow through the varitone circuit.

I know there are those who use the old schematic value of a 1.5H inductor, some swear by a 15H and others employ maybe a 7H or 3H.  Anyone tried several values and able to comment on the most usable preference.  Also, does anyone have any suggestions on where to get a decent and small enough (physically) unit to fit in an SG control cavity?  The larger value inductors are quite hard for me to track down in the UK it appears!  Also, what spread of capacitor values seem to give the most versatile range?

Cheers for the suggestions there...I could go the pre-wired route, but to be honest I've got all the components in my parts boxes bar a suitable inductor.  Just need to find one and settle on final values.  Although you might be right that it'll be less hassle gettig a pre-made or perhaps gutting a pedal.  I've got no room left on my board, but two controls spare on the guitar, so if I could squeeze something in that cavity then so much the better.
