Anyone know what's up with Ampwares? They do not answer the phone and the message machine is full.

Ampware customer service has always been a bit "iffy" in my book. If you are looking for tweed/vinyl go to parts is parts. All my dealing have been excellent with them. For all other parts its hard to beat hoffman.

 Yeah, I've had simular experiences.
"They" is a one man operation and not a very effecient one.

On the other hand, I truely do appreciate the Fender Feild Guide.

I agree with 6G6, that the Fender Field Guide has been a valuable resource for me, and I really appreciate it. I hope Ampwares straightens out the problem. It would be a shame to lose the FFG.

I'm sure there's a hundred other places that would be happy to host the Fender Field Guide--just like Mojotone hosts schematicheaven.com.

In the few years that I've been in touch with the online tube amp community, I've heard overwhelmly positive remarks about just about every tube amp parts vendor ( not counting ebay ) except two:

ampwares.com

and

handwoundtransformers.com

There many vendors out there with great service--obviously Hoffmanamps comes to mind. Once you've save up enough money to buy a bunch of tube amp parts why would you mess around with a vendor who is going to keep your order in limbo for 6 weeks.

By the way, Ampwares has a nice site, which goes to show that any joker can put up an internet storefront.

Ken

Thanks so much guys. I am looking for a volume pot for a silverface deluxe reverb. The original pot is 1M with push-pull switch made by CTS. Ampwares shows it as C1OATWS1. I don't think Doug sells this. Any ideas where I may get one?

I get 95% of my parts from Hoffman's. Just to be fair I have gotten part from Ampwares. Yes a little slow. But he always came through with the parts. Always received quality parts.
just My two cents.

Ampawares has a 100% failure rate w/me, 6 weeks to receive the wrong merchandise, 1month of faxes, emails and phone calls and not so much as a blast fax back. At this point I feel its my duty to warn others of such poor bussiness practices.

Ampwares has had some parts that were unavailable anywhere else. In that respect, he is an important resource. Slow as molassas, yes. I've only ordered from him rarely (I prefer to buy in quantity, when possible) but I've always received what I ordered eventually. I like to give him some business just because he has a good inventory.
