Looking for Guidance

Hi all!

I've ended up on this forum many times during research, and decided it was time to get my hands dirty...

I'm looking for guidance on my next build, which is similar to RockRink's recent post here (hopefully our experiences can help each other)

If possible, I would like to build Rob Robinette's RR763 in the Hoffman Stout Chassis. Any reason this wouldn't work?

I'm comfortable with pretty much any level of modification that might need to be done, or I have a local metal shop that can make me a Chassis if need be. I just like the form factor of the Stout Chassis, so I'd like to use something like it, rather than a Fender style Chassis. I can do my own cabinetry also.

If there is another circuit that might work better, I'm open to other ideas too. I'm just looking to end up with a High Headroom/Cleanish/Fenderish type amp in a compact head. Something along the lines of the Milkman Dairy Air.

A little background on me: I'm new to amp building, and have been reading/learning as much as I possibly can.

I have built 2 Amps so far. My first was the Mojotone NC3015 kit (AC30/AC15 style amp)

For my second build, I bought just the small parts kit for that amp, made my own Turret board, and built a Single Input, Single Channel version of that in a Stout Chassis.

I really dig the Stout Chassis, and would ultimately like to build Simple/Stripped-down versions of each of the 3 main flavors (Fender/Marshall/Vox) all in this same Chassis, if possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm looking forward to becoming part of this awesome community!

You're not gonna get Fender/Marshall/Vox all in a Stout chassis, but...

Look at these two amps. One is a British Dual Lite which is Vox and Marshall preamps driving an 18 watt EL84 power amp. The other is an All American Dual Lite which is Fender and Ampeg preamps driving a Fender AB763 2 x 6L6 power amp (could use 6V6s if you prefer). Both of these are built on a blank 12" x 6.5" x 2.5" chassis (same size as the Stout chassis). Either of these amps would pretty much drop right into the Stout chassis with minimal chassis work.

You're AC15 Lite was a huge inspiration for my first build! Your page is awesome!

But I'm currently currently looking to do an AB763/6L6 style build in a Stout sized Chassis.
With as little as (Volume-Treble-Bass), but no more than (Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Master)

Looks like I need to check out your Phoenix!

No. It's the same as the high input. There's no voltage divider. Makes no diff if the resistor is 68K or 34K. Signal to the grid is the same.

I don't think tubeswell is being serious. All the info on Rob's site is given freely. Rob has this to say at the top of his home page...

Thank you Sluckey! That's what I thought. I emailed Rob anyway, just to make sure everything is above board.

If I can't avoid drama on an amp building forum, I'm going to stick my tongue on a fully charged filter cap! Haha

I have a massive respect for Rob, and others who put so much work into teaching and sharing information.
And I never want to do anything that could be seen as shady.
