Looking for someone to rebuild a 1950 Fender Deluxe
« on: October 20, 2020, 10:12:48 pm »
I have a 1950 Fender Deluxe that is missing the electronics. Only the original speaker is in the cabinet. Overall in great shape. Would love to find someone interested in restoring it for me without breaking the bank.

Latole, I'm in the Dallas, TX area. This site doesn't let me post a pic of any size so please private message me and I'll send you the pics via email.

PPR, Problem is I need a 5a not a 5e.  It's an odd one.

Gonna be very difficult to find a repro 5A3 chassis. Board could be made by copying the 5B3 board. Supposed to be the same amp, just in a different cab.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I bought a 5C3 chassis from Weber a few years back. I think the only difference might be 4 inputs instead of 3. I guess it depends on how authentic you want it to be. IMO you likely can't get to 100% with the electronic components anyway, so make a nice amp. I love that TV front style tweed cabinet. I made a 5C3 but upped the filtering a bit and made the preamp cathode bias rather than grid leak. Does not bother me a bit that it is not totally authentic.

Theyre all 3 input. 5B3 and 5C3 were in wider enclosures.

Chassis for the A appears to be: 13"x4"x2.5", and while the original sported the OT mounted on the speaker it will fit on the chassis.. https://youtu.be/SgWKAcBDGcE?t=575

IDK where you'd get the silkscreen graphics as id imagine that would be cost prohibitive for a one off. Robrob has layouts and schematics.. its doable for sure, but probably not to ultimate original spec.
