 PT repair question

 I've got a Mercury magnetics Brown Deluxe PT that shorted. The short is at the exit hole where one wire burned through. Can I just repair this with shrink tubing?

 yes, if you are sure the transformer is still good,which is
questionable.If the trans is still good it would prbably be better to take it apart and replacing the wire. the arc may have cut through alot of the strands. but make sure
the transformer is good because it is alot of work.
