Dual 50 Question
« on: December 25, 2020, 04:01:12 pm »
I have the Hoffman 6v6 Plexi, and I really like the amp.  However, I have always wanted a "real deal" plexi, and Sluckey's Dual 50 looks like a great amp.

I am mostly a home player, so one thing I need to know is how much louder the Dual 50 is than the Plexi 6v6.  The 6v6 Plexi is pretty loud already at about 22 watts, so there might not be much difference in loudness.

One possibility to control loudness is to have the traditional master after the tone stack, then integrate a PPIMV as well to knock down some volume.

Anyone have experience with the Dual 50?

in my experience 20 watts is FREAKING loud. double the wattage nets you 3dBs best case. 10dB would be twice as loud. It'll be more in regards to the differences between EL34s and 6V6s.. and most people who like cranked Marshalls will like the EL34s

The 6v6 Hoffman Plexi is really loud to begin with, so a 50 watt plexi might not be much louder. B
