'54 Fender Super 6L6 to 6V6 conversion
« on: March 25, 2021, 08:12:30 pm »
6L6s are so clean at low volume...would like to put in 6V6s for more of a Deluxe tone. What do I need to do? This Super has a transition circuit with a 12AX7 in V3 and two 6SC7s. Also not a mint original. Only the chassis is original; I built wide-panel cab for it and set in a pair of silver frame P10Rs.

I would just plug the 6V6s in, replace 5U4 with 5Y3, and run an 8Ω speaker.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
