Dr Z Ghia clone question
« on: June 13, 2021, 10:49:30 am »
I see more than a couple people here have made a Ghia clone. I've had a board sitting, mostly, populated for 6 months or so and decided to get to it. As I was putting in the final resistors (the 3 watt ones are the only thing I didn't have when I started making the board months ago) I realized I don't have a 3w for R4. The question is: were the 3w resistors overkill (as seems to be the case on other resistors in the circuit) and can I get away with using a 2w?

At power up, for the 30 or so seconds when the 5Y3 is conducting but the output valves aren’t, it will initially dissipate about 1.2W. Normal operation should be less than 0.5W.
Sufficient voltage rating is important.
