Peavey Bravo output transformer
« on: June 18, 2021, 07:53:24 am »
Hi, I have a Peavey Bravo all tube 2 x EL84 25watt (allegedly) combo and am not happy with the stock Peavey/Eminence speaker. I have a collection of 9 Celestion and Fane speakers that I would like to try as a replacement. Problem is that all my speakers are 15Ω and the putputs on the Bravo are 4Ω and 8Ω. I don't want to mis-match the transformer and speakers as it could give me problems and a reduction in volume and tone so I need to find a replacement transformer with, ideally, 4, 8 and 16Ω outputs. I need to find the input impedance of the stock transformer to enable me to obtain a suitable replacement. Also an issue is that the transformer needs to be of the enclosed type -for safety reasons - as it is mounted on the chassis and is visible/accessible thru the open back of the combo. I'm located in the UK so to keep costs down, I really need a UK or failing that, a European source.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

It looks as if Phil at Bluebell Audio, the previous best uk source for Hammond stuff, has hung up his sporran.
There’s Mouser and Hammond are supplying direct too.
But prices have shot up now Phil’s out of the picture.

Best prices I've found for Hammond is Hawk Electronics...

They will ship to UK and also do drop ship. If drop ship from a distributor in the UK, you may avoid import duty. Don't really know, but may be worth talking with them.
