p2p Bad-Dawg off the bench

Hot off the bench is the finished out flamed maple p2pAmps Bad-Dawg.  Finish is acrylic urethane for those who wonder.

Cheers

WOW!!!!! Nice color too!!!!  :bravo1:

Is that 1 of those big honkin' pedal steel speakers you were testing out a while back? Looks massive. How many watts is it rated for?

Thanks!  That is a 12" EV Force which will handle what these 4 6L6s will throw at it.  Should way bigger than 1x12 I can tell you that.

Looks like David Allen's Old Flame, same FP. I assume two 6L6's, fixed bias, 12AT7 reverb. If so, a great sounding single channel Super Reverb...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

No, look at the pics, 4 x 6L6, with a 1/2 power switch on the back.

It looks amazing, well done!
I can’t help thinking that its margin of stability would be improved if its presence control was moved to the other end of the front panel. Are you sure it’s unconditionally stable, ie under all reasonably foreseeable control settings and output loading conditions?
The ‘attenuator’ control is a master volume? ie Type 4, between preamp and power amp.
I think it would be more user friendly to label it as such, because generally, in this context, an attenuator usually refers to a power dissipation circuit between a power amp and the speaker cab. And to put it on the front panel.

Hi and thanks for your input.  The presence control is stable and 100% as I have tested through and through, thank you.
Yes the "attenuator" is as you say, a type 4 between the pre-pwr amp.  The amp was is so loud I needed a way to trim it back, not looking for overdrive and such this was a good place to add.  I decided not to put it on the front panel as I didn't want to further clutter the front.  Plus making changes like that does cost me $$$.  Again, thanks for you input.

Cheers

Did you keep the jumper mod for the "Tone" pot?
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Spectacular! Kudos for the woodworking skills and courage to do a gloss transparent finish on an amp. There is no way to cover up the small flaws that are so hard to avoid. That is a truly lovely piece. I bet the sound is pristine too!

WOW! That amp is drop dead gorgeous! I really like the color choice over the flamed maple. Excellent workmanship!

JT

Oh Yeah, I missed that, attenuator too, I was too bussy looking at the beautiful cab, I'm a woodworker. Nice quilted maple, an eye catcher. I have two Allen Old Flame heads and love them, one of the best amps I ever played but "no hiding behind them", clean at high volume. Maybe I should have said Twin..?  :icon_biggrin:
