EL84 amps
« on: September 20, 2021, 04:47:16 pm »
Hello,

So far I built lite, brown note d'lite. I notice that the d'lite has a little bit soft feel, spongy and not very sparkly. whereas, the lite el84 has more sparkle and gritty sound to it. I like el84s because they are cheap and 9 pins tube.

my question is, if i use 100uf filtering caps on a el84 amp will it make it softer. also, please describe soft/ hard filtering.

does choke use make an amp softer?

i really like the d'lite clean tone but the OD is little harsh.

based on your opinion i will decide what to build next :D

thanks

You might want to take a look at the Trainwreck Rocket and Liverpool filtering. Easy enough to find audio clips of bothering
