Reuse of Blues Juniors, Black Vibe ? Princeton ?
« on: February 22, 2022, 09:24:41 am »
Hey All
Like I, suspect, many of us, I have an ever growing piles of Blues Juniors in a corner of my shop. Don't have a boat, don't need an anchor, wondered what folks have tried in addition to the Hoffman mod ?
Starting on a Robinette Blackvibe in one of them, which Im confident will do at least something vaguely fendery.
Also considering a Princeton style without trem. To do this, I would have to drop the driver stage before the PI, also share the PI with the reverb return. Haven't seen anyone else doing this, is this an inherently bad idea for some reason ?
Thanks
TH

You have three little tubes and two EL84s to work with. If you stay within these boundaries, you can build some nice amps that will surely work well with your PT and OT. Lots of choices if you break out of the "Fender" box. Here's one example that may interest you...

If you must have reverb, consider tubenit's one tube reverb circuit.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I do like the size/form factor of the BJ.  Hoffman's BJ circuit is solid and works well, and Stuckey's dual_lite is cool.

On the other hand, check out the prices on Reverb.   If they work (and even if they don't), they are worth several hundred bucks.   I'm getting ready to sell two of the three I have cluttering up my spaces.
