Build suggestions for a W02273 PT
« on: March 05, 2022, 01:08:16 pm »
I scored a pair of W022723 PTs a while back and I'm interested in hearing from the pros what a good amp choice would be.  Looking for suggestions as well as these 2 questions:

Could I build a Stout?

Could I build a beefier Princeton Reverb?

What other amps come to mine?

Thanks!

That should work fine with a 2x6L6 amp.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Yup. Weber says it's for a Vibrolux Reverb 35 watts. Using it for something smaller will pull less current than it wants and voltages will be too high. A 5U4 rectifier may help reduce the B+ voltage but heater voltage could be an irksome problem to jury rig a "fix."

^What Sluckey said^
(This would work for a tweed Bassman 5F6a)

72,

Check out this thread: https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=28707.0

It's another possibility for that 200mA PT.

I did-thanks!  Curious if the tranny he used has same chassis dimensions bolt/cutout requirements as mine. he used the Hammond P-T290CX. Mine is a Weber W02273.

The 290CX is HUGE. The bell end fits perfectly in the Weber 6a14 chassis, but I do have to drill new bolt holes. It nearly touches the can cap though. Better than trying to widen a square hole. Here are the dimensions (pdf attached) if you'd like to compare it with the one you have. The cutout on the Weber chassis is 2.75x2.23". And I obviously love the 6l6 Princeton I built with a very similar PT, so that's what I say you should make!
