"Cloud Lifter" style ribbon mic preamp?
« on: March 15, 2022, 07:07:31 am »
I recently re-ribboned an old RCA 77B1, and it sounds fantastic, but of course, might work better with an inline preamp. SE Electronics makes that "Dynamite" model for $99 but I'd love to diy one for less. Anybody built something like this? I imagine it's kind of specific to ribbon mics, and their own impedance needs.
cheers,
Scott

yep, thx PRR, I did a bit of googling first (before posting), but didn't feel like joining another diy audio group to view stuff - sorry to bother

It was discussed to death at GroupDIY. Several iterations. I don't see how reinventing it here adds anything.

I saw these a few years ago, really wanted the 4 channel rack version, thought there must be something good inside, but no its just 4 cloudlifters in a row

Have a go with some vero or breadboard, as PRR says there are discussions online on the versions and plenty of reading, try an image search instead for schematics, they are out there somewhere,

I cloned a clone of a cloudlifter after seeing some of the cheaper branded units are cloning the original version of a lifter anyway, should get you where you need
