Really weird indeed !!!
« on: April 04, 2022, 01:57:24 pm »
Hola amigos !   I may be dumb sometimes but this thing will surely surprise many of you.

My computer acts very strangely. Since one week, it can't be turned on simply by pressing the on button on top of it. Nothing happens, just like the 110V supply cable would be unplugged.

I HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE 110V CABLE FROM THE COMPUTER, MEASURE THE VOLTAGE AND RECONNECT IT BEFORE IT CAN BE TURNED ON.

I swapped the cable twice  with the same result

Putting my meter accross the 110 V line changes something ....but what ? At the moment I measure the voltage at the cable plug that connects to the computer, the computer is not connected...but when I re connect it and press the "on" button,  it works, the satan machine accept to be turned on hey hey...

Very strange indeed

This sounds a bit like my old PC problem,

Do you have to measure the voltage? If you leave the cable disconnected for a little while and plug it back in does it then turn on,

It may be the BIOS battery, mine has some kind of boot up command I don't understand, it turns on but wont boot unless the BIOS is 'drained'

I have to leave it unplugged and wait till the BIOS led on the motherboard fades out, then cable plugs back in and it works, almost the same as your problem

I have had a similar issue on a TV where it turned out to be a capacitor near the on/off switch, it may be for some kind of 'soft start' or a relay of some kind

Hi buddy,

When I turn off my computer in the start menu , it can be turned on a couple of minutes after.
If It stays off overnight, it just wont turn on. I ll have to unplug the 110v cable from it, measure the voltage at the cable and replug it to the computer b4  it  "will accept" to be turned on..

Do you know much about cuantic physic ?

measure the voltage at the cable

what happens if you fake out the computer;?

instead of measuring the voltage, use 2 chop-sticks, ream them around like you were measuring voltage.

now plug in and see if you faked out the computer, or it's smarter than you AND it's watching  :icon_biggrin:

Very good idea, tomorrow when I come in, I will sure give it a try....never seen such a weird issue.
Did you watch the video on quantum mechanic where just the fact of watching  an experiment changes the result ?

In french it is called the experiment of the 2 slots. It is about the two states of the matter: wave or particle. Absolutely confusing !!!!!

In your fridge, when the door is closed, maybe everything is moving and changing places.
As soon as you open the door, everything is back to its original place.......

that "Idea" goes back a way in history;
someone used cats and stuff that kills cats.  IF you open the door, you kill the cat, IF you do NOT open the door, IS the cat dead?

That "experiment" was flawed since a dead cat stinks real bad by day 3  :icon_biggrin:

Wow, this has now officially gone surreal,

They say there is no cat in the box, Schrodinger forgot to kick the box to double check, when I shake this box very hard, you can still hear the meowing inside...

Or maybe the Zeno effect is too strong, don't look so strongly at it when you turn it on, your absorbing too m any photons

I wish some good food would 'swap' its way into my fridge, this cheese has gone quantum

I'm only just understanding signal phase in wires, let alone matter phasing in space-time

But seriously, this still sounds like it may be BIOS battery running out

ya, that was my 1st though, but what the hell, I thought I'd let the Frenchman walk into it on his own, holding his hand, so he didn't get lost in space  :icon_biggrin:

Here's the frenchman with more weird news.
I came in to my practice place with a pair of chopsticks, ready to fake my computer..When it saw me arriving, it decided to start up right away. Just like the experiment of the 2 slots or Schrodinger's cat, the quantum spirit always decide on you. We probably live in a macroscopic quantum world where scientists are still looking for physics laws to unify both microscopic and macroscopic worlds where weird things aren't understood.....

I think maybe the power supply could be defective

the battery that keeps BIOS, should show itself by asking what time it is
the PS is a good choice

Motherboard CR2032 coin battery voltage too low =  .6 volt. Just bought a pack of 3 for a buck. Thanx
