 Line Out on a 5E3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone tried converting the extra speaker jack on a 5E3 into a line out , as suggested in the Gerald Weber book ?

Does it work, ie do you get the whole tone of the amp ? If so, and if it is a worthwhile mod, can it be made adjustable ? I could use the power section of my Hot Rod Deluxe as a slave amp, but there's no level control.

Thanks.

Hurricane.

 line out

i have added a line out on my sunn 200s,
it keep the same sound. i used a 100K ohm 2 watt from the 8 ohm out put to the line out jack, ground to ground
and a 1200 ohm resistor across the hot/ground of the line out jack.
hope this helps
this lets me get a "tube type" sound out of my sunn concert bass amp when i piggy back it off my tube amp.

 Ernie,

Are you running that into the slave input on the back of the concert, or through the normal input?

I'm not sure if there is a difference between a preamp output level for a slave input and a line out level for a mixing board, thus the inquiry. (Maybe they are the same?)

i run the line out into brite input on the concert bass.
never had any problems. when i want it louder, i just have to adjust the volume on the tube amp, and both get louder.
hope this helps.

Thanks. In fact, I found details of the adjustable mod in another article. Worth a go, for the sake of a couple of resistors.
