Time to buy a Fluke meter, but which one?
« on: June 01, 2022, 12:40:10 pm »
It's just about time for me to buy a very good hi-end Fluke meter.

Which model/models should I be looking at?

Thanks guys,  Willabe    :icon_biggrin:

87V... if you got the change.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Model 115 does what I need it to do.
With capacitance and frequency it is the better choice of the low-end Flukes for me.

Came across this on the website:

I got the 115 too! I have burned up/destroyed a lot of meters over the years but this 115 has been with me a while:>)
On the right track now<><

I had a cheap meter crap out on me last year, and decided to go Fluke.   In the end, the 87V was just too expensive, and I got a 117.

The 117 works great. My only quibble with it is that when measuring DC in the mV range, you have to dial to the range and then hit the yellow button.  I'd prefer just using the dial alone.  So, a small quibble . . .

Otherwise, very robust, seems very accurate and reproducible.  For guitar amp work, the accuracy is welcome, but not essential.   The solid build quality, built like a a brick ****house -- now that's something to cherish.

I use a Fluke 175 many times each week since 15 years
