I installed a Lar Mar style master volume in an 18 watt marshall build. It works, but it only goes so low, the amp is still fairly loud the whole time, but it helps. Any ideas other than a faulty pot?

Is it a standard 18w-build (Marshall 1974)? Any variant? Any mods? Please post the schematic (or a link to it).

Have you measured the resistance to ground on each side of the pot when you turn it all the way down?

If the pot is good then you have a wiring error.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
