Rickenbacker M12 Schematic
« on: September 24, 2022, 01:50:54 pm »
Looking for a schematic for a Rickenbacker M12. All I can find is the M11 which has 2 6V6 power tubes. The M12 has 2 6L6 power tubes which seems to be the only difference between these 2 models. I'll open it up and see if there are any other differences. Anyone know where to find a schematic for the M12?

What does the amp need?
I would agree that the preamp is likely the same. If the PT is dead I would not look toward Fender spec PTs. Maggies and Ricks of that period had B+ voltages more in line with Valco and Gibson amps than Fenders, so I would look for that. The ClassicTone PT for the Thunderbolt would likely be just right, but they are no longer - Hammond and MPS would likely have a similar spec PT.
Would you be willing to draw up a schematic based on what you find? Forum members would appreciate that.

The Fender 5B5 Pro circuit is very similar to the M11 circuit aside from a 6L6G output section, some minor component value variations, and an extra pre-amp channel. The 5B4 Super layout provides period appropriate voltages.

Edited to add link.

I just saw this https://djlcreations.blogspot.com/2018/12/rickenbacker-m12.html Is that the amp? If so - that cab is super cool.

One of my old band mates just got ahold of this amp along with a Rick pedal steel. Wants me to look it over. Will post pics when he drops it off.
