Fretwire with cross section design
« on: January 29, 2023, 04:46:26 pm »
Has anyone ever seen fretwire with a design built into the cross section?

After it popped into my head I was somewhat surprised that I'd never seen it. Surely I'm not the first person to think it up. Someone call the patent/trademark office, lol.

Not trying to be a Negative Nancy but I see some problems in the design.
After crowning and leveling they're all gonna look a bit weird. And that's
not even mentioning how much DNA is gonna get stuck under the "rolls"!

Definitely lower practicality than other guitar things. But there are $900+ sets of Seymour Duncans with silver wire, so it'd be a thing for some of the folks who buy items like that.

Advantage?
The person with those frets can show someone their frets and say something like,

" Hey check out my frets, they are clover shaped in their cross section, yay "
