Hot Rod Deluxe PT for 230 volt primary
« on: February 06, 2023, 10:35:05 am »
Hello. A friend gave me a working Hot Rod Deluxe power transformer. From the schematic below the chart in the middle indicates which colored leads are needed but not how they are jumpered and I don't have the circuit board so I can't follow the traces. Any advice on what to do? Thank you.

It would be helpful to provide some context to your query, eg what are you working on, what is your goal for it?

I want to use it to build a Tremolux clone, if possible.

There’s various tremolux models, which one?
Note that they all use a valve rectifier, which that PT is lacking.
Given the OP, most importantly, what is your nominal mains voltage, ie at your wall outlets?

Tremolux AB763. With UF4007 bridge. 228 VAC at the outlet.

Everything you need to know is on the schematic you posted.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

...which colored leads are needed but not how they are jumpered...

As just said: it's on there.

The jumpering is the chart in the middle plus the CP terminals on the PCB schematic near the US transformer. We don't care what you will do with it, first get the primary voltage right. There are options for 230V and 240V and that is a key number.

You say 228V so use the 230V jumpering.

CP3 is one side of the line (say L1) and goes to VIO. Blk/Red goes to CP5 which goes to CP6 which goes nowhere (in 230V mode) so call it NC (tape it off). Blk/Grn to CP7 to CP8 to Blk/Yel, so splice. And on down the table.
