Princeton Reverb with custom covered cabinet

Here is my Princeton Reverb that is in a pine dovetail 1x12 cabinet covered in blue twill. The grill is Raffia caning. I am plan to have tubes,1st powerup and bias set next week. Excited to get it powered up.

Beautious. Where did you source the twill? And did you lacquer it? Some folks have a thread on fabrics on the cabinets page and would be interested.

It was my first time covering in cloth. I posted a post with questions about it on the cabinet forum too if you want to dig into that. But I got this twill from Joann Fabrics. I used polycrylic water based clear because all of the solvent based clears released the glues and the fabric would literally fall off the wood. And the lacquer would alter the fabric appearance too.

Thanks - Same thread I was thinking about. I have two old Gretsch amps from when Valco first started making amps for them. One has a lacquered square weave fabric - like a heavy luggage linen. The other lost its skin before I got it. I cannot match the fabric but found some similar. I haven't dared try it yet, but I have read that Fender used real hide glue, warmed up, and a sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer.

I wouldn’t be surprised about the hide glue. My suggestion is get a chunk of wood and practice glueing and finishing over. That way if something doesn’t play nice you can figure out on scrap. Attaching was easy. The finishing was time consuming.

Very nice cabinet work, I can't see any seam on it.  Love that color with the white knobs and the cane grill cloth.  That's a unique look, impressive.

Thanks alot! I had this look in my mind. I really like the new blue Supro Tolex that seems impossible to find. And I like the Mesa wicker cane grill amps alot. And as I went down the path of finding materials I found deviations to that idea that in the end I think I like alot more.
