high temp adhesive

I  have a situation where I need to "glue" some filter caps to a vintage chassis (no holes drilled).  The chassis gets quite warm.  What is the best material to use?  Jim
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench--a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men left to die like dogs.   There is also a negative side.

I use Permatex gasket sealer -- any of them work well.  They are, of course, designed for heat and stick to anything except silicone.

The stuff is messy, so you do have to be careful when applying!

From all my years of hot rods, choppers & a drag car
make sure it's a hardening sealer. Some of that stuff
stays soft and sticky for years and is a MoFo to clean up!  :BangHead:

I'm just a back yard mechanic, but I have have come across stuff like that.   Apologies, I should have used the correct term gasket "makers" rather than sealers.

Permatex Ultra Blue and UltraBlack are RTV gasket "makers;" when used as glue, they cure in 24 hours.  Yup, they can be messy to apply if you're not careful.  But once cured, can be scraped off a component without leaving a big mess.

Good old Permatex #1 is a fast drying form-a-gasket and sealant that's rated to 400 F.
Just read that off the tube. LOL.

Permatex #2 is just like a #2 except it doesn't dry out. It stays like baby poop.

LOL, I had no idea.   I've used Permatex for years as a high temp glue in amps.  Glad I never came across a #2 in the ACE hardware.  It would not have been pretty.  :l2:

They use it a lot in race engines. Seals well but allows you to get stuff apart later.
It's like thermal paste. It sticks to every damn thing and won't wash off!
