Shippers?
« on: April 11, 2023, 04:22:15 pm »
No, I said Shippers not Strippers!  :l2:

Is it just me or do you guys have issues with shipments always being lost, late or just a cluster *&#@?
For me, if it's FedEx, I just figure it to never arrive on time! No joke, I had a package come from Digikey in Minnesota and get to the Kernersville NC hub in 2 days only to be rerouted to Lenexa KS and then back to NC. It took 21 days and over 3500 miles! Believe it or not I have the least trouble with the Postal Service!

I'd love to hear other horror stories!  :BangHead: :cussing: :dontknow:

I hear ya Shooter. I remember when it took years to get on full time at UPS.
Now all you hear is these places can't get enough help.
And they pay well.

UPS and FedEx are always on-time. Right day and often before dark.

USPS here is always a day late because we are far past the last sorting center and are woefully understaffed on the fringe.

I have not had any of the horror stories I hear from others.

Oh- our drug supplier is spewing contradictory errors but we now know it is a stupid program (or programmer) which schedules a shipment before checking the stock; and a clueless clerk who re-submitted all the errors over and over. We may resort to going behind the highschool to score migraine meds.

Maybe it's just the area I'm in???
When George Clooney said "we're two weeks away from everywhere"! He was talking about my house!
Twice now the UPS drivers have said my address does not exist after driving thru my yard! Then the "B" on the phone said they won't send it out again! Then I gave her like 6 delivered tracking numbers and she finally gave in. Before the pandemic excuse this stuff didn't happen. They must have lost a ton of employees? Last Fedex package came in a U-haul truck and the driver wasn't in uniform.
Guess I'll just plan all jobs for a week later from now on! LOL!

Most of my shipments with FX and UPS have been great, with exception of Amazon packages, I don't think they know how to properly pack anything for shipment and I guess the shipper's sorting hubs have a field day with them. Last shipment one broken glass jar of salsa verde...  what a freaking mess - it was all over all the other things in the box. Last three Amazon boxes crushed on at least two sides.
USPS where I live it seems to be a training route now.  I used to order more expensive things with USPS service but not anymore. I've had a quite a bit of mis-delivered mail in my box, and so has everyone else, and there are some people in this neighborhood that have never heard of being good citizens and returning the misdelivered mail to the people it is addressed to. I've lost whole shipments of amp parts that were "delivered".  Just recently a neighbor lost a shipment of high dollar sports clothing that was "delivered". I ask you, if you were experiencing this would you order two gold eagles and some silver bars with USPS?
Anything expensive like precious metals, coins, transformers and such I order with UPS insured.
I worked for Fed Ex and when I hear people say they have bad service with them it just doesn't make sense to me, because FX ground is basically owned by private contractors and they get paid by performance. If something went wrong on my route I likely would never hear the end of it back at the station.

Got a new contender! DHL e-commerce! TX to NC took 2 weeks. Had to use a universal tracker as their tracker does not work. Package sat idle in Raleigh NC for 6 days. That's BS! Then at the end they hand it off to the USPS for delivery so you can't even chew the driver out. This was from Rockauto so my truck sat for 2 weeks waiting for a pulley. Skip DHL and upgrade to anything else.
