This is my Grandpa LaMore's recording that was just him and his acoustic guitar originally in 1948. Me adding bass, drums and distorted guitar was my feeble attempt to kind of Rock out with him back in the 90's. As feeble as it is I have no plans to re-record it, so here it is in all its radiant glory

How GREAT to have that in your family history. I find it so important to know what your ancestors have done and honor it.
My favorite Uncle, now gone, was a ham radio nut. My basement now looks like his, except that the tubes and chasses are all guitar amp and Hi Fi instead of ham. When I was a young kid I would sit with him while he connected with other hams throughout the world.
He was the Chief Engineer of the Kodachrome development team at Eastman Kodak - with two breaks to fly bomber missions over Germany and then North Korea. I became a pilot and a photojournalist (not that good at either) but I find it special the way we honor family traditions.

Thank you for sharing and your Welcome! That's very Impressive to have an uncle like that, that you were tight with. He was very talented to be able to do and accomplish all that. Sounds like he fought in WWII and the Korean war. But also you being a pilot and a photojournalist is pretty outstanding. Being a pilot is plumb scary to me cause I want to keep my feet close to the ground:>)

Yeah I find it important especially in my senior years to honor my ancestors and I guess I was closer to my Grandpa LaMore than most of the others. He was one of the most industrious persons I've ever known. He was constantly in motion. I have to brag on him a bit. In his lifetime he was a school teacher, Lawyer, County Judge, State Representative(in Arkansas) and gave guitar lessons on the side. He lived about 400 miles away from me so I only got to see him on vacation time. When I was first learning guitar, I got to play with him one summer before he died.

Very nice.  I remember we had a similar 78rpm record cutter in the fifties but no family music survived.  I wish I knew my grandparents better and knew more about what their lives were like.  Can't fix that now.  Now I try to spend as much time with my grandkids as possible and we have a good time.  I want them to remember good times we had.

When I was growing up, old folks were definitely a lot older for their age.  We are living (more or less) healthy to a greater age nowadays than they did.  And I think we have less societal expectations on how old folks are 'supposed' to live.

You've got a very good prospective. I was blessed to know my dads parents and moms also. I realize not everybody has that privilege but as you said with you realizing the importance of that, you are making it possible for your grandchildren. Those good times will be something they will carry all their lives.


We're definitely living in a different age now than what I was raised up in. Even though people are pushing far out ideas out of the norm there is no substitute for good values  and virtue. I made plenty of stupid mistakes in my younger years but thank God for his Amazing Grace

Something I wrestle with all the time.  I'm fairly progressive in my ideas because I think we need some new ideas going forward. The scientific revolution gave us a lot of progress but we still have toon many tribal myths that keep us from seeing that other people are just like us in the most important ways. 

OTOH, many so-called tribal values values are eternally valuable as you say, and should be kept alive as we head into an uncertain future.  The trick is, how to tell the difference.
