Thanks! He would come out of the woods behind my house and get in my garbage and scatter it around and pick out what he wanted. When I would see him I would call out to him but he would run away. So I finally secured my garbage so he couldn't get in it. So I guess he got so hungry that the last time I called out to him, instead of running he shyly came up and I started feeding him. So we are getting acquainted. He's got some pretty bad manners, I hope will get better

Ours, her name is Romeo. She's a sweety. She's been hanging around with us for about 8 years, maybe more. She's a real tough cookie. She's endured some real tough winters and even once stood her ground against a fox. She's shown her gratitude more than once. Usually drops off her gift in front of our deck bay window. Gifts included a bird wing, the bottom half of a mouse, and one once she got real generous and gave us the entire bird. She's pretty much a senior now, so her hunting days are over and sleeps most of day. We also have a young one that we feed, a black cat called Luna. We have not provided shelter for her, she's comes for food, and then off she goes. Will not see her until next meal time. A real rolling stone.

Romeo is a fine looking Calico. She's got a nice set up with her own chair and Igglue. Phlour Rower(PR) is right now living under the storage shed for now. An outside cat living in the country has to be pretty tough. I get the feeling PR has been on his own in the woods since he was a kitten. He hasn't got a bit of playfulness, a very serious overall attitude and very skidish. I hope to draw some playfulness out of him eventually. He has a very strange reaction I never seen in a cat. He will meow intently when he wants to be fed and growl in between meows??? :dontknow: Like he's saying,"I want to be fed, but keep your distance"

Sounds like Romeo has had a good life. Maybe Luna will loosen up eventually

It started 15yrs back when someone dropped 3 pregnant cats off in front of our house at midnight!  I heard the car, watched from the 2nd story window, as 2 people do the "Chinese fire drill".  Didn't give it much thought, until I started seeing cats a few days later!

This is UNO, from the Ghost lineage, I named Ghost for the "vacant, nothing in there" look.  In human terms UNO has an IQ around 80, partially Deaf, never got the meow thing down, what he lacks, he more than makes up for in heart, (The main trait of the Ghost line)

Hay, that's a nice looking Cat shooter! Sounds like even with disabilities has become an old friend. Good Heart counts for a lot. A cat with an bad attitude is pretty rough:>)

I live on a road very lightly populated and has always been a place where people discard their unwanted pets. Guess they feel they can dump the animal here with less chance of getting caught in the act. I never understood why people posses animals that they don't take care off and dump them off when they become a problem. I have had to deal with all kind cats and dogs in terrible condition even at the point of death that were dumped off here. I was so glad when our town opened an animal shelter and I had a place to take them where they can get immediate help they need. Because of that there is not as many dump offs as it was 30 years ago, only occasionally.

Thanks for sharing. Give UNO a good neck rub for me

Our shelter used to do $19.99 neuter/spade, no longer offered, it's $150 ea here, and only through a vet.  one litter will break you.  9/10 times the shelter has a sign NO CATS, which sucks since it's a 30 day shelter, not a forever place!  and it's Government, my TAX money.  on the 3rd trip of NO cats, The cage "broke" reloading the car and 12 cats....stayed there.

UNO got his scratch, he's moseying down to the pond for some frogg'n, They do well, they take everything above the hip-bone and leave me the legs, and I like a good mess of fried frog legs  :icon_biggrin:
