small chassis layout
« on: May 29, 2023, 10:27:15 am »
Putting this very small power amp together. The chassis is a hammond 7x7.  Is there a rule about proximity of the input jack , speaker jack to the OT or PT (or input jack to speaker jack proximity)?  My plan is to have the input jack and speaker jack on the rear , The rear has both the PT and OT mounted next to each other.

best practice is input jack as far away from output jack and transformers as feasible. if it's just a power amp you'll probably be fine because you're not amplifying sub-volt signals (expected input is likely a volt or more)

i might mount the input jack right over the P.I. on the front. Not what i wanted but i dont want headaches. I suppose i could build it all and wire the input jack on a coax wire and move it around to see if there are noise issues before i drill and mount it

I suggest this...
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

looks like we're in business. I've incorporated the hum-loop block network.

only question now is do i need to drill some ventilation holes in the chassis. these diecast hammond boxes seal up pretty well.

That's what us southern boys call 10lbs of shit in a 5lb box.
