Dual Lite Underway…

Sup y’all,

 Finally got underway on the dual lite build. Got the chassis figured out(i think anyway…). Cut and drilled the old KLD(failed) chassis. Good heavy chassis, not easy to cut/drill. Mocked up as you see. All, basically, according to Mr. Lucky’s layout. Not sure if I really care about the chassis being ugly. Gonna try to get the board cut and drilled tomorrow. It’d be nice the have the turrets staked as well. Already having a lot of fun!!!!!

Okay, so the ugly chassis did bother me after all. Got the turret board staked and ready. Maybe get some actual wiring done tomorrow…

Does anyone feel like I’m asking for trouble with this heater wiring? Clearly I’m not feeling confident!

Made some decent progress. Board is populated and mounted. Power amp is wired downstream from the pi. Starting to resemble an amplifier…

Well, it’s alive!!!! After a couple hiccups she’s a runnin. And boy is she ever awesome!!! Punchy and piercing, so much volume from the little ‘84’s. The 6ak5 is wonderfully warm, that where most of the real gut punch is. The 12ax7 preamp side is great cranked. If there’s any complaints the 6ak5 is seriously microphonic. I swapped out the rca for a triode and no change. But ya, love it!!!

I'm surprised the 6AK5 is microphonic. Maybe get another one. Better yet, get a 5654.

I have most of the parts ready for an 18W build, to replace a much-loved Park 20W; Sluckey, am I right in thinking you thought the Dual Lite was less tame than your AX84 Plexi style November build - so I'm guessing it has more grunt?

Why is that, when iirc your november amp had one more preamp stage?

The Dual Lite has a more raw, in your face sound due to a less lossy tone control and no NFB.
