Hey all,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.
I’m a product designer for the housewares industry by day, designing anything from potato peelers to toilet plungers!
I’m a player by night in the Worcester MA area too. The band plays all kinds of southern rock and blues. Allmans, Skynyrd, and ZZ Top dominate the setlist.
Over the past couple years I’ve become completely obsessed with tube gear. I’ve always played vintage “style” tube amps, but it wasn’t until my grandfather passed me his busted Epiphone 33RVT that I really got the vintage bug. I was determined to fix it myself, and with the help of Uncle Doug and the likes I was able to replace the filter caps, diagnose some noise in the front end, and three-prong that thing! After that I scored a deal on a Supro 16T and did the same.
Since then I’ve been learning everything I can about repair, building spud compactron amps, working on projector conversions, and all kinds of other projects. My coworker (an old head TV and radio repairman) always laughs when he walks past my desk during the day and sees a mess of schematics instead of “work”. Oops.
Anyway, this forum has been a major help to me as I get up to speed with this stuff. I’m excited to keep learning from everyone here.
