Tweaking an Acoustic 370

Recently purchased an Acoustic 370 amp head. It's an amazing amp but it gets a little dirty a bit too soon. Like with a tube front end you can go to lower gain tubes. What's the equivalent in a solid state amp?

Will I get the same result if I use the 2nd input, used for higher gain/ active basses?

Into one 301 speaker bottom the Model 370 will produce 230 watts RMS. Into two 301 speaker bottoms the Model 370 will produce 365 watts RMS.

You must have this voltages also when playing the guitar at normal amp power.

Ok, I'll need to pickup the amp and bring it back home to test that.


I was talking to another tech and suggested to-


"Play with the gain by bleeding signal to ground. Look at the input stage, the tone stack section and the line output section. You should be able to slow the gain down to your liking using one or more of those sections. "


Is this a good option and how is this done?

Yes, it is worth to try.

You have to make sure that everything is working normally and that there is no problem as already mentioned.

For example, using an oscilloscope and a signal generator.
Don't forget to measure the voltage during normal use.

In short, it also requires knowledge

What started me thinking on this is the system I use at a Blues jam I host every week.  Most of my basses are P basses many of them would excite a overload light of an amp that has a clip light. Due to that, when I was using my class D, I’d use the active circuit and then it was fine. My speaker is a Bergantino 12 x 2.  When the Acoustic came along, I left the D at home. The Acoustic is great and the players love it too.
At 9:00, on the dial, it’s plenty but it’s getting a little dirty past that, hence the reason for the calming down.
 
I brought it home today and its fine. My cab at home is a 2 x 15 Acoustic 150 cab with 2- K140’s, a dream.  The #1 channel did not exhibit the dirty sounds I heard with the Bergantino. I’m sure the Bergantino is fine, I’m not pushing that any more than I do to the 2 x 15’s . I’m wondering about the power supply from the restaurant.
