Canadian "Symphonic"
« on: October 30, 2023, 12:16:29 am »
Symphonic_Back

I bought this chassis many years ago and recapped it.....Got it working with low volume (as loud as an acoustic) It took pedals well which increased the volume substantially. I can also jump the channels ...I built a cabinet and covered it in Marshall purple that I purchased from Doug. Thats how long ago it was ....It had crackling and hissing so i put it aside.....I remember when I changed all the wax caps and electrolytics, that it was a crowded mess and I didn't want to go any further. I went back at it the last few days and it was not as bad as I remembered it ....I replaced a lot of way out of spec resistors and I have the noise issue fixed ...The volume is much better but I wouldn't call it loud ...Great practice amp and takes pedals as I stated earlier . I'd like to see a schematic as it appears to have way too many resisters on the input jacks ......I have searched in vain ....not much info 10 watts pretty rare I guess ....Got Canadian power tubes might have been built in Montreal. They imported tv's and phono's from Japan

I have fews of these amps built in Montreal long time ago.
Schematics  ? I have some.  They are rare.

Tell us wich tubes ?

"I'd like to see a schematic as it appears to have way too many resisters on the input jacks "

Input jacks circuit are always the same, or very close, on any amps . Any schematic may help you.

2@6v6gt, 2@ 12ax7a, 1@5y3, 1@ 6av6 tremolo....I have never seen this amount of resistors on the input jacks before (4 jacks) i'll try to post a picture later ......It's a rats nest on the inputs , I think it was added but want to make sure....Thanks there is a model number too I'll post it too.....have to go out to the shed. All the crackling and hiss is gone ....It was out of spec. and faulty resistors....It's very quiet now.

There are only fews tremolo circuits.

All you have to do is draw a current circuit, then do it schematically and we will help you repair it.
Often tremolo problems come from 3 time base capacitors

the tremolo uses a 6av6, so I will go in and figure it out(draw it) but it's gone back in line for now ..... Thanks R

Thanks, Latole, I saved that and will compare it to what is in there. I moved on to my 1960 GA5T. I fixed the Tremolo and slowed it down. I also replaced the resistors that were out of spec. I recapped it years ago when I bought it as a chassis in a mangled cabinet. one of my best amps now and I have some real good ones lol. was also in the 61 ga5 and replaced the out of spec. resistors ....sounds OK but I think I have a leaky bumblebee ....I reused the death cap .02 on the volume pot.
