Looking for a toggle switch assembly Support/Bezel
« on: December 18, 2023, 09:35:50 am »
Hello,
For a Build I'm doing I need a switch Support or Bezel that allows the switches to be recessed inside of the case, here are photos of that part:

This type of Switch Support/Bezel was use in all the Nagra IV line of models but also in equipment of other brands,
here is a photo of some DI Box supposedly made by Helios (closed down in 1979) that used the same type of assembly:

Does anyone know any info on these parts?
 Sources for it?
Or any other equipment that might have used them?

Thank you so much for your help

Some websites don't allow linking to their images. Good luck finding those switches. I've never seen that style.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Those Nagras were something.

I haven't ever seen those either but they remind me of Telecaster jack cups.

Not quite the same, but maybe you can adapt one to your use.

Nice item but never seen before

Which is your purpose on using such an item ?

Aestetic, you don't want to have protudings, you want that the use of the toggle is performed in a safety way ?

if safety use is your purpouse may be this interesting for you ?

musicians and there rodies have bad luck with protruding controls, techs however make a few bucks from that  :icon_biggrin:

Which is your purpose on using such an item ?

I'm building some equipment to be used in Live sound, some Preamps and guitar Tube DI boxes.Protuding switches are prone to break or fail when carried around and travel from one gig to the other, that switch arrangement I showed makes it much safer and easier to accommodate for transportation in safety. Also, I need to avoid having musicians or roadies inadvertently and by accident changing the settings, so it's safer when it's being used also.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not really interested in alternatives at the moment, just really interested in finding info or possibly a source for the parts I showed in the first post.

Thank you so much for your help

I see lots of these everywhere when I search for, "recessed toggle switch mount."

There's rocker switches.  Pretty foolproof.  The old fender slider bright switches much the same.  Anything sticking out past the frame of the cabinet has a high potential of getting busted off.

That link you showed it's not similar to the part I showed, it's a big recessed plate for a big switch, it's not similar to the item I'm looking for.The part I showed is for mini toggle switches and only the tip of the lever does through it.
No search for "recessed toggle switch mount" gives any result of this part.
For the moment as far as I was able to find only Nagra recorders and that red Helios DI box used these type of switch supports/Bezels. But maybe there was more companies using this for their products. Both the Nagra recorders and the Helios DI are from the early 70s

Never seen any of those on my long journeys looking for stuff on the interweb.  Seems like a good idea.

If you know someone with a 3-D printer, looks like something you could work up pretty quickly.  In its essence, it's just a recess for a short bat Carling mini toggle.

Edit:  Honestly, I don't know how much work it would be to design a recess like that, but I bet Doug could tell us.

It seems most people feel and tell me the same.No one seems to have ever seen this part and everyone likes the idea and the part itself

If you know someone with a 3-D printer, looks like something you could work up pretty quickly.
Is not that easy:
1) I don't have an original part so I don't know the measurements
2) very very important, original part is metal and set screw is metal, 3d printer won't work, set screw would strip out
