5f10 shared plate resistors
« on: March 06, 2024, 09:27:32 pm »
I am liking the tone i get from my modded 5f10 harvard. However, I am suprised how clean the amp is. The preamp circuit is identical to my champ but it stays much cleaner turned all the way up.

Is my dual input arrangement of grid leak/standard cutting gain as it is? I opted to go for the "fender" way of mixing each input by just connecting the plates together.

I also am using a 56k NFB resistor connected to the 8ohm tap on my OT. I am using the 4 ohm tap though.

Cut one wire and find out?

Definitely is cutting gain. Cut the wire and there is the overdrive.

I am going to do this switching arrangement. Is there a way I can minimize the switch pop between channels?

Put a 5.1M resistor across the switch contacts. Need two resistors. May help.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Another option could be to use preamp mixing resistors such as employed in the first iteration of the Marshall JMP 2404.
