Single Ended Spitfire

Looking at purchasing a single ended amp that runs a 5e2 princeton preamp into the power amp.  I'm looking at modding the amp to use a matchless spitfire preamp (parallel triodes) vs the cascade of the princeton.  Question is ultimately the spitfire is a push pull amp with a phase inverter.  Is there a "significant" impact of omitting phase inverter circuitry by splicing the spitfire preamp onto a single ended power amp?  I know its all subjective, but curious if there are any gurus that have tried this or see a glaring "don't even try, without replicating PI".  My real concern is gain difference between parallel and cascaded triodes wouldn't give enough juice to the power amp.

You don't have to replicate the PI but you will need another gain stage. Otherwise, your amp will likely be very quiet and lifeless.
