Can Anyone ID This Amp?
« on: May 02, 2024, 03:35:27 pm »
Hi

No idea what amp this is, it's obviously not US - no 120 voltage selection.  Used to have a Marshall logo but IDK.  The bit of text I can find says "CONTROLLED POWER" on the front and "_ _ _M_ R  SUPER 5" on the contol panel.  Raised letters on plastic input jacks says "Render Indus., LTD"

Any info appreciated - thanks!

Look a European made amp .

Remove back panel and show us some pictures
There are some words under this panel
Parts looking and speaker may help too

Did you mean to say Vox AC-15?
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Since it has a shadow of a marshall logo on the grill   one would assume it was a Marshall amp.   What model/year is the question. It's a 2 x EL84 configuration so that would seem to say it was an 18 watt or a derivative. Or it could be someone stuck a Marshall logo on this amp to cause people to think it was a real Marshall amp.

I think I was wrong about my guess...as far as I know, Marshall never made a 15 watt amp, they were 18 watt amps.
Still, that part of the logo sure does look like a 15 along with 2 letters that are no longer readable.
Could it perhaps be an older Selmer amp?

It could be a Japanese made guitar amplifier.

I forgot to add one clue.  The jacks that say "Rendus Ind, LTD" also say "Made in England".   So at least the input jacks were made in the UK.

Another clue.   The yellow axial capacitors are Mullards.

mresistor - or is it Mr Resistor?

Thanks, you are a god  :worthy1:  Now I can sleep at nite again.  Again, thanks so much, really appreciate it.

Also, I did get it powered up and it sounds really good, even with a slightly damaged speaker (voice coil rubbing a bit).  Looking forward to getting it all tidied up and rocking
