Hello from Down Under
« on: July 07, 2024, 02:32:43 am »
Hello Folks,
I am exploring retirement (a.k.a. the re-purposing of my time) after a 40-odd year career in electronics.  I started off with electronics as a hobby when I was about 7yo, and it just flowed from there.  I have done a stint in the military, then civilian life in areas such as product design, systems design, repair and maintenance, project engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, sales, product management, business development, and finished up as a Head of Engineering.  Now I am focused back onto some grass roots design and prototyping - which includes code, hardware, 3D printing and, well, just trying ideas!  I have a stock pile of 40 years of collecting (some call it hoarding), which includes just about every type of component from the 1920s up until current day.  Lately I have been buying deceased estates and exploring the components collections of others.  To put this in perspective, my sheds include storage of around 50,000 valves - and countless other things.  I don't sell much of my stuff, but sometimes I do (what I sell funds my ongoing purchases).  Rather, I much prefer swapping, meeting like-minded enthusiasts, and making new friends.  I repair and build amps and other equipment for fun, and donate whatever I can to those that can use them (I greatly respect the work that the G4V support group does).  I have a soft-spot for lower-powered amps.  One of my workshop likes is listening to good music on a simple 6V6 PP ultralinear setup driving some nice vintage speakers.  A couple of watts is enough when its of good quality!  I stumbled across this board while designing some 6CM5 ultralinear circuits recently, which I want to 'put out there' using some of the countless B&W TV valves and PA line transformers that are available at very low cost.  Encouraging others to explore and enjoy electronics has become a bit of a mission for me!  I look forward to browsing more here, and contributing!   Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the Hoffman Amps forum

There are many different boards on this forum for different topics.

The Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs board is where you can post amp questions.

That board is listed here.
