Using Extra Triode of Trem-O-Nator
« on: September 08, 2024, 08:52:38 am »
Hello-
I have a question for users of the Sluckey Trem-O-Nator circuit. I have incorporated it into a number of builds and am very pleased with it. I always left the second triode unused. I have a build going now that I really need the unused triode of the Trem-O-Nator. This triode would be the third gain stage driving the phase inverter. Fairly high signal levels so I am thinking I may get by with it. I wanted to ask if others have used this triode successfully without any issues from oscillator triode?
I am considering rewiring the filament of this socket in order to utilize the 6N2-P of which is pretty much a 6.3 vac heater 12AX7 with internal shield. Does anyone have knowledge if this internal shield could actually help with isolating the oscillator triode from the gain stage?
    Thanks all.

I don't know of any reason why you couldn't just use the unused triode without going through additional shielding measures.  Designs like the Princeton have the cathodyne PI and bias trem oscillator triodes in the same tube.

Thanks for reply-
Yes, I have came across a few like you mention where the tremolo osc triode shares an envelope with a gain stage, etc triode. OK I will give it a try.
