Hello folks. I'm 40 and work in the trades, good at robots/plc's, horrible with mechanical stuff! I'm still new to guitar, started mid-July this year and targetting to learn blues. I've been deep diving into it hard as I tend to do, learning every aspect of it I can. I've modded my telecaster and fixing to install a new body and go from a 4 way Oakley to a Schaller super switch to make it 5 way.
I have a PRS SE 594 McCarty, but have had a lot of issues with it. It's now the guitar I'm learning how to repair. Cold solder joints bad enough that two of them came off. Fret work really bad, so I put new stainless steel frets in it. Managed to go from having to play above 5/64th's on low E to stop buzzing even with soft pick attack down to a smidge above 4/64th's. I had my truss rod adjustments checked and everything before I attempted it to make sure I didn't do that wrong. I was going to send it back for warranty work, but they took about 3 weeks to get back with me. At the rate they seem to go I figured I'll pick up extra hours and make up the difference in tools and learn a skill.
Have a few AionFX pedals under my belt and been reading on The Guitar Amp Handbook. Bought a Carvin Vintage 16 amp off of facebook that didn't work. Did get my money back, but didn't find out the source of the issue. Just know his V1 Tube was at 2.1VAC and V4 was at 3.1VAC. So now I'm targettiing to do my first amp. Looking forward to combing over the forums and finding more stuff that I didn't know and to learn.
