Getting Back Into It
« on: February 05, 2025, 04:36:15 pm »
Hello All,

I used to participate in the forum about 10 years ago and I found the forum to be a great help in my projects which included building two 5e3s, converting a Bandmaster Reverb to Blackface specs, and installing a Hoffman Turret board in e Deluxe Reverb Reissue.  Work got in the way and my workbench went unused.  I retired and now have more time to devote to building amps.  I just finished a Mojotone Princeton Reverb kit but swapped in a Hoffman Turret board instead of the eyelet board provided with the kit.  The amp sounds great although it developed a ticking noise in the when the vibrato.  I'm going to search the forum for any advice.  I've tried several search queries with the following words, "Princeton, Reverb, ticking, Vibrato" but haven't found the proper thread. I'd appreciate any suggestions for composing a more targeted search.  Thanks in advance.

I'm looking around for my next build.  I recently played a 1962 Brown Deluxe which I definitely want to build.  I'm also interested in building a Marshall/Vox (EF86) amp.  This forum and the whole site is a great resource!

Welcome to the Hoffman Amps forum

There are many different boards on this forum for different topics.

The Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs board is where you can post amp questions.

That board is listed here.

Thanks,

Latest News on Princeton Reverb ticking Vibrato.  I should have checked the AT7 tube first.  A bad tube was the source of the ticking.  Now, on to the next build.
